The state of Virginia allows the family to bring a wrongful death lawsuit against a negligent party whose negligent actions led to the victim’s death. Families can receive compensation for pain and suffering, lost wages, loss of consortium, and funeral and medical expenses.
Some wrongful death lawsuits can involve very substantial settlements, such as this truck accident settlement for $2.4 million.
