Our View

We send our condolences to the family of the tractor trailer driver who died in this terrible Virginia truck accident. If the reports are correct, the Toyota Corolla driver is most likely at fault, and he could be hit with a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of the deceased truck driver.

The state of Virginia allows the family to bring a wrongful death lawsuit against a negligent party whose negligent actions led to the victim’s death. Families can receive compensation for pain and suffering, lost wages, loss of consortium, and funeral and medical expenses.

Some wrongful death lawsuits can involve very substantial settlements, such as this truck accident settlement for $2.4 million.
