Trash Truck Crash Kills One in Maryland

The search was on this week for a trash truck driver that smashed into an SUV in Forestville, MD, leaving a woman dead.

Maryland State P0lice stated that the woman died when the trash truck smashed into her SUV, which caused her to lose control and slam into a telephone pole. The police investigation found that the woman had exited off of I-495 South onto Pennsylvania Ave. when the trash truck rammed her vehicle.

The trash truck did not stop and fled the scene.

The driver of the SUV was transported to a local hospital but she died.

Our Virginia truck accident legal team is very sorry that this accident led to the death of this innocent woman. Commercial truck drivers have an obligation to operate their vehicles in a safe manner, it appears that this did not occur in the above case.

Eventually, the driver of the trash truck that allegedly caused this fatal accident will be found and brought to justice. At that point, the family of the deceased will need to decide if they want to bring a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver and the trash removal company. We work on many commercial truck accident cases that led to loss of life and these cases can be complicated.

A few years ago, one of our clients was partially rear ended by a careless truck driver, which caused the car to flip over and kill our client.

We were able to get the lawsuit filed quickly so that vital evidence could be presented to the court, and we also had the entire family interviewed by a grief counselor. The counselor was able to describe in a report how devastated the family was at the loss of the father. The defense tried to have the counselor’s testimony excluded.

Eventually, the case was mediated by a retired judge and that truck accident case was settled for $2.4 million.
