Three people were injured when two two tractor trailers rolled over near Naugatuck CT on Route 8. The two drivers had minor injuries, and one passenger suffered serious injuries.
The CT State Police stated that the crash occurred around 4 AM near Exit 30. One tractor trailer was going north in the right hand lane, and another tractor trailer was behind it. The first truck veered off the highway onto the right shoulder. It hit the guardrail and then roller over.
The second big rig hit the trailer of the first truck and also rolled over. The seriously injured passenger was in the first truck, according to the police.
While our Virginia truck accident attorneys do not know for sure what caused this accident with injuries, the fact is that a large percentage of truck accidents happen at night, and often involve driver fatigue.
Even though ever CDL manual in the country stresses the importance of truck drivers always having enough rest to drive their shift safety, driver fatigue leads to needless injuries and deaths every day.
Statistics that we have seen tell us that 40% of truck crashes involve drivers falling asleep, which is totally unacceptable. Our truck crash law firm once handled a $5.5 million structured settlement where a truck driver falling asleep caused major brain trauma to two children. We hope that we never see a case like that one again.
